BTV was founded in Zaragoza (Spain) in 1962 as a manufacturer and supplier of mailboxes, safes and other metal products including security equipment such as gun safes, vault doors, lockable key racks and notice boards. In the last fifty years, BTV, which began as a small three-person outfit, has become a leading company offering state-of-the-art physical security technology, with production plants in two continents. As a major supplier in Spain of mailboxes and safes, our company of experts in the Zaragoza plant strive constantly to improve our manufacturing process and widen our range of leading products. Thanks to the effort and commitment of our employees and distributors we have expanded into the rest of Europe, America and Asia, where BTV is now a recognised leading brand in the hardware product and security sector.

Since the very beginning, BTV has pursued its business in the construction and security sector, supplying hardware and lockable products, and in the hotel market. We supply hotels with a wide range of safes in different sizes and with different locking systems, which are tailored to the specifications of our clients.

From simple workshop to leading multinational in four decades.

In the 1970s, BTV rapidly took the lead among the fifty or so manufacturers that sprang up following the passing of legislation that made fitted mailboxes mandatory in all new buildings. Thanks to its wide range of products and fast service, the company quickly rolled-out a sales network in cities and regions across the country. The sustained growth of the hardware and construction industries in Spain since the 1970s, together with the company’s own growing production capacity and willingness to embrace new technological advances in the 80s, helped to consolidate BTV as a leading post box supplier in the domestic market.

During the 1980s, BTV began to diversify its products, experiencing success in what was then the new market in domestic safes. In 1981, production of safes began and even the early models incorporated electronic locking systems. The company quickly consolidated its position as a leading manufacturer of safes in Spain and, in the second half of the decade, built its own research laboratories and successfully launched production of its own electronic components. Research & Development’s incorporation of digital locking systems into their safes subsequently turned the company into an internationally recognised innovative and dynamic safe manufacturer.

By the early 1990s, the company was facing its next major challenge: international expansion

By 1995, our growing presence in the European and American markets resulted in the company building and moving into its current 18,000m? manufacturing plant in Zaragoza. The plant houses a fully automatic powder coating facility and state-of-the-art sheet plate processing technology.

BTV successfully established itself in Guadalajara (Mexico) in 1996. The company headquarters quickly followed suit, moving to Cancun in 2002, where our subsidiary company Safe Security Rent (SSR) is also based, providing secure storage facilities and after-sales service to the Mexican hotel market.

BTV became present in China in 1998, by investing in BTV CHINA, its own manufacturing plant in the city of Hangzhou, in this way providing our Asian clients with the same quality products and fast service, in the local language. The plant moved in 2006 to the city of Jiaxing, just 90 Km away from Shanghai, where our Asian logistics centre was set up.

Today, we are the leading supplier of mailboxes and safes to the Spanish market. We design and manufacture mailboxes and safes with one single objective: to guarantee the highest level of SECURITY tailored to the needs of our clients.

Research and Development

Today’s security equipment market demands integrated solutions that go beyond the physical security of an object. Increasingly, clients require integrated electronic and computerised solutions. In order to satisfy this demand and aware of the importance of investing in this area, the company invests substantially in its three main areas of research and development: mechanics, electronics and computerization, under the direct supervision and coordination of the management.

The BTV Portal has set the standard for online access, allowing clients to track the status of their orders, check stock levels, view offers, and access the balance of their accounts online- all in real time and available 24X365.

Certifications

Not just a matter of accreditation: Quality is our company philosophy.

Our wide range of safes are accredited to the ISO 9001 quality standard, issued by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance. Our accredited certification represents one more step towards achieving our primary goal as a business: ensuring customer satisfaction. Furthermore, all safes fitted with electronic locking systems comply with the requirements of the EU directive relating to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and our gun safes and high security safes are tested and certified to EN-1143-1 resistance to burglary standards.

Our ISO 9001 certification(pdf), our electromagnetic compatibility trials and high security safe accreditation are just some of the results of a corporate culture based on quality. The company has its own quality control department which has been operating for 12 years. Self-regulation by operatives, regulation by the quality control department and external auditors are the pillars of a quality system driven by continual improvement across all company departments and processes.

In 2010 we are expecting to finalize a series of procedures for environmental management certification to the ISO 14000 standard. In order to achieve this, we have substituted our most environmentally aggressive processes, integrating nanotechnology into our coating work to help eliminate phosphates, as well as improving packaging systems to reduce plastic waste. As always, we continue to transmit our philosophy to our clients and suppliers.
